Short Bio

Canadian born folk songwriter and Yukon River dweller Dieter Weise has been a recording artist since his first EP release in 2018. Now Weise emerges again  from the cabin to present his first solo record, “Memories of the Anthropocene” – nine new original songs that take a fanciful  sonic and lyric migration through themes varied as the love of cold, the alacrity of moonlit huskies, the enigma of friendship, the terrible beauty of a wasted afternoon

and the acoustic quirks of plywood shacks.

Born in Sault Ste Marie, Weise came to the North fifteen years ago and makes his home a few hours downriver from Dawson City on the Yukon. He is also known in the Beaufort Delta for live performances backing up bands at community dances and jamborees, participating in regular shows for Elders in assisted living and teaching music to youth.

The record's songs bring everything from exultant melodies out of the Richardson Mountains’ thin air to funky laments on the caprices of love and the dark satire of the album’s titular song on civilization’s obsession with condemning itself to doom.

Be among the first to hear this state of the art set of Folk Rock 2.0 tunes hot off the record press and fresh from the wilderness.
